If you have olive skin and are in the mood to dye your hair, this article will help you determine the best hair shades for you.

Celebrities like Alyssa Milano, Eva Mendes, and Ariana Grande all have olive complexions and wear beautiful hair colors.

Kim Kardashian's color and look are also often imitated by women who seek to have a touch of her style

Olive skinned women often go dark but you can also go lighter if you are careful and choose the right shade.

Mahogany/Plum Shades

Ariana Grande (above) rocks mahogany hair. Mahogany or plum is the most fun hair color you can wear as an olive-skinned woman.

They are deep and edgy, while still being colors that can be worn in everyday settings at work and school. Because these colors have tones in them that might highlight any off-color in your skin, like blemishes, it is advisable to take another step to ensure your skin is healthy and bright.

If you long for a sense of adventure with your looks yet your lifestyle doesn't allow you to make drastic changes, try a mahogany or plum shade and watch heads turn.

These hair colors blend with your olive complexion because they complement the very subtle green hues in your skin.

They are perhaps the only red shades you can wear. However, mahogany and plum are the most adventurous of all red hair colors.

If you would like to try mahogany out, try L'Oreal Preference 5MM Medium Mahogany Brown. If you would like to try a more purplish red color (for cool skin tones), try out L'Oreal Feria Color 3D P48.

Golden Sandy Blonde

A touch of sand and a touch of gold come together perfectly for tendrils to create the radiating skin glow of actress Saffron Burrows.

Brown with Blonde Highlights

Surprise everyone and Infuse your dark brown hair with blonde highlights.

You no longer have to take an expensive trip to the salon to go that blonde. You can use the time-tested and positively reviewed Revlon Frost & Glow Honey Highlighting Kit for Medium to Dark Brown Hair.

To play it safe, try coloring a lock of your hair to see how you like the results before applying it all over your head.

Highlighting your hair requires less maintenance than an all-over dye job. Take this into consideration when looking to change your hair color.

Dark Brown

Alyssa Milano (above) wears her hair dark brown. Chances are your hair might be dark brown naturally as well.

There is a reason so many women with naturally dark brown hair and olive-complected skin keep their hair dark -- it's perfect for their skin tone.

Dark brown hair allows your skin's olive beauty to show through without need for a lot of makeup.

If you have gray or white hairs in your mane, coloring your hair is always better than plucking the strays.

If you would like to try dark brown hair dye, try Revlon Colorsilk 33 Dark Soft Brown.

Black

TV star Kim Kardashian (above) has naturally shiny black hair. Although Kim has tried dark blonde hair, the black color has always looked best on her.

Black hair looks great on women with olive complexions and sometimes those with dark brown hair like to go the extra step and dye their hair black, as black hair adds drama and depth to your look.

To prevent your hair from drying out from coloring it on a regular basis, simply stick to coloring your roots only. If your ends are still black from your last application, there is no need to re-apply the dye in those areas. You will prevent extra damage this way.

If you would like to try black hair dye, Clairol Nice 'N Easy 123, Natural Soft Black is a good choice.

The most frequent problem associated with dying hair is that it can damage and dry out your mane very easily. If you don't want to spend a lot of money at a salon to get repair treatments done, a good at-home method is highly recommended.

If you would like to make your hair frizz up less, your split ends lay flatter, and your hair feel less dry, then try Nexxus Pro-Mend Split End Treatment Shampoo and Split End Binding Conditioner (photo, right).

I dye my hair and also use a flat iron, which add up to a lot of abuse, so I personally use these products to restore my hair to a lustrous texture and reverse the damage of chemicals and heat. It took me many years to find this shampoo and conditioner, and I never would want to be without them again!

Haha I am still debating!! I dyed it from a box a while ago and messed it up, so I was thinking to just go back to a chestnut brown, but I kind of want to add a random caramel or auburn highlight just to my bang. So, it's up in the air until I actually sit in the stylist chair... haha we shall see!
