Natural Healthy Face Mask
I just turned 40 in February, so naturally, like most woman, I've tried to fight the natural aging process, experimenting with every cream out there, in hopes to look younger! The amount of money I've spent is ridiculous, and half the time I'm not even sure what's in the creams I'm putting on my face. I've tried everything from Noxema to Cindy Crawford's Meaningful Beauty line, to collagen, to any new product I think will work. This natural face mask recipe, I use 3 to 4 times a week, is by far the best thing I've found, cheaper than anything, and easy to make!
- 1 teaspoon organic, olive oil
- 1 tablespoon unpasterized, raw, manuka honey
- 1 teaspoon powdered, turmeric
- Simply mix all of you ingredients together.
- Apply to face, steering clear of eyes.
- Leave on for 20 minutes.
- Rise with soap. Pat dry.
Turmeric is an anti-inflammatory. It will help calm your skin and make it look radiant. As it targets your pours, it will reduce inflammation, and attack your acne and lighten scars. Not only will it help with acne, but it can also soothe and heal Eczema, Psoriasis, and Rosacea. It's packed with anti-antioxidants and has anti-microbial and anti-inflammatory properties. These healing powers will brighten your skin, reduce dark spots, and prevent your skin from being dry. It has the ability to slow the aging process, lighten wrinkles, and improve the skin's elasticity. It will leave your skin feeling soft and supple!
Honey is one of the best foods in the world and the only food that NEVER goes bad. Manuka honey is a type of honey made by a special breed of bees only found in New Zealand. Make sure you read the label. It's also important to check the MGO or UMF (unique manuka factor), which signifies the company has a license and shows the rating that measures the concentration of methylglyoxal potency. The higher the rating the more antibacterial the honey is, so this number is very important. Manuka honey is quite expensive here in Canada. I buy it for about 40 dollars for 500g with an MGO of 30+. It is the most important ingredient in your face mask and costly, but nothing compared to the price of skin creams you order online or pick up at your local drugstore. If you find the product too expensive, you can just use regular honey. The product I use is raw and unpasteurized. As for the facial benefits of honey, it too is an anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, and antibacterial product. Its potent against a variety of bacteria, leaving your skin clean; an obvious quality you want in your skincare regiment. It promotes wound healing. If you look at my other article, called 'Holistic Remedies for Dogs', (note: graphic photos), you can see the evidence of how well it healed my dog's very big, very open tumor. It works well for scars, burns, ulcers, rosacea, eczema, and psoriasis. Its antioxidant properties reverse the aging process and help protect the skin from further damage. Manuka honey is also what they call a natural humectant, meaning it draws moisture to the skin. It works as a moisturizer, promoting soft and luxurious skin! This product is a must-have in your skincare collection!!
Plenty of celebrities love botox and plastic surgery to help them look young, but two of my favourite to keep an eye on are Jennifer Lopez and Jennifer Aniston, due to their beautiful skin. I do check out what skincare products they use, and while in my hunt for the best ones, I discovered that J-Lo's skincare product line uses olive oil; a very natural, and readily available product, easy to get your hands on. I decided why not add it to my mask. Olive oil is another powerful antioxidant that may help prevent premature aging. Some research also suggests that applying it after sun exposure can help fight cancer-causing cells. Due to Covid-19 still being active, I will be out in this sun in my yard as much as I can this year, as soon as this weather brightens up, so it seems logical to just add it! It's also rich in vitamin E, among other vitamins, which everyone knows is wonderful for your skin. However, if you have dermatitis or oily skin, you may wish to omit this ingredient, as it may not be the best option for you.
- I use this skin mask about 3 to 4 times a week, and I find that is beneficial enough. You can however, apply it daily, if you choose to do so.
- Don't leave it on your skin for too long, 30 minutes tops, and never overnight. Turmeric WILL stain your skin a very ugly yellow if left on too long!!!
- I use grocery store turmeric (Costco Kirkland this time), Manuka Health New Zealand UMF 30+, and President's Choice Olive Oil (nothing special).
- Those allergic to bees, should NOT use honey.
Other tips I do to keep my skin healthy and young looking...
- I only use Dove Soap.
- I also apply a night cream every evening before bed. Right now I am using Andalou Natural Night Repair Cream Age Defying (about 35$). The cream isn't necessary; there have been plenty of times I've used nothing but the mask.
- I like products that I know what the ingredients are.
- I also NEVER go to bed with make up on, EVER, but on that note, I hardly wear make up in the first place.
- I always wear sunscreen. Tans are nice, but wrinkles are not!!!
- I drink a cup of Aloe Vera Juice daily (Alō Exposed). It is fantastic at keeping you hydrated, and full of antioxidants and vitamins. Drink it in the morning about an hour or two before you eat or drink anything. It will also help keep your skin fresh, hydrated and healthy looking. *Make sure you get a juice that says 'aloin-free', as aloin is extremely bad for you and can cause health problems.*
- I drink plenty of water to keep my skin hydrated!
