Not too long ago, I watched a (roughly) 15-minute tutorial on how to create a full glam make-up face. The YouTube channel was Rosina Sharon and you can check out the video here. Goodness. Knowing how to do everything from create a flawless set of eyebrows to blending the perfect hues in your eyeshadow to selecting the ideal lip color — all of it really is a true art form.
But I feel like when it comes to highlighting the face specifically, some folks still underestimate how important that particular technique is. That’s why I wanted to share this video by @katyaniomi to show you.

Nothing says “there’s a method to the madness” quite like concealer does (if you need some tips for how to choose the right concealer for your skin tone, watch these videos here, here and here). And here’s the deal — if you’re going to use it as somewhat of a highlighter, remember the purpose of highlighting your face is make your skin look younger, draw attention to your eyes and help your lips to appear fuller (for starters).
However, what I like about this particular technique, is it literally makes both women’s faces appear brighter — almost like it’s drawing me right into the center of their faces and nowhere else…without it looking like they have a ton of make-up on. Brilliant.
Please, please, PLEASE just make sure that you have a good beauty sponge to blend your concealer (or highlighter, if you prefer) in with. I’m pretty sure that you’re not going to be able to pull this look off, quite as flawlessly, any other way. Sephora has one that a lot of people like here and Fenty has one that’s a fan favorite for many here.
So, the next time you decide to blow everyone away with a full glam face, consider giving this technique a shot. It could easily take your look to the next level…and that’s really saying something.
