No7 Hydraluminous Skincare

As a self-confessed skincare addict, I am always on the lookout for new and effective products that will help me to improve the appearance and overall health of my skin. So, when I stumbled across No7's HydraLuminous Collection for a bargain price, I couldn't resist the temptation to buy it.

In the months before ordering the collection, I had already heard and read lots of great things about this range, which made me all the more excited to see what they could do for my skin. And now that I've had a few weeks to try the HydraLuminous range for myself, I'm ready to share my honest experiences with you.

But before we dive into the review, though, here are some answers to the things you might be wondering.

What's Included?

  • No7 HydraLuminous Water Concentrate (15ml)
  • No7 HydraLuminous Water Surge Gel Oil-Free (25ml)
  • No7 HydraLuminous Overnight Recovery Gel Cream (25 ml)
  • No7 Water Bottle

Who Is It For?

The HydraLuminious skincare range was developed with GenX-ers and Millennials in mind, but it's suitable for anyone who's looking for intense hydration.

How Much Does It Cost?

The particular set, which first went on sale over the Christmas period, retails for £22.83, but in the No7 sale, it was reduced to £11.80. After using a referral link and the £3 credit on my account, I was able to get the entire kit (including p&p) for just £1.30.

The History of No7 Skincare

If it feels like No7 has been about for donkey's years, that's because it has! Boots launched the brand way back in 1935, with a limited selection that included just 11 skincare products. Of course, the collection has grown exponentially since then, and No7 now sells a wide range of award-winning makeup, body care, sun protection and male and female skincare for all skin types!

Despite its booming success and powerful grasp on UK-based skincare enthusiasts, No7 has never wavered when it comes to the ethos behind the brand. They are still just as committed to developing 'trusted, affordable beauty brands for every skin type, ethnicity, age and texture' as they were all those years ago.

No7 is also 100% cruelty-free, meaning they do not test any ingredients or finished products on animals, nor do their suppliers.

Water Surge Gel (25 mL)

Whether your skin is oily or dry, you needn't worry because No7 has you sorted with their HydraLuminous Water Surge Gel!

This featherlight product comes in two varieties: one for oily skin and, yes, you guessed it, the other for drier skin. And since I tested out the Oil-Free version, that's the one we'll be talking about today.

Described as being ''super lightweight'' by No7 themselves, this ultra-hydrating cream claims to provide up to 72 hours of hydrated, glowing and fresh-looking skin. And I've got to admit, that's pretty impressive! But wait, it gets better because the cream is also enriched with naturally derived plant hydrators and a weightless pollution shield to ''quench and comfort'' skin.

My Experience

The first thing I noticed about the HydraLuminous range, as a whole, is that it emits a very mild, clean scent, which is ideal if your skin is sensitive to highly fragranced products.

The gel-like texture of this moisturising cream is also very pleasant, and I find that it absorbs very quickly without leaving skin feeling tacky, irritated or taut.

My skin feels so soft all day after using this product, and when it comes to wearing makeup, the Water Surge Gel has turned out to be a reliable base.

In the past, with some moisturisers that I have tried, I've had issues with my foundation separating throughout the day. If you've dealt with the same, you will know, yourself, just how annoying it can be! But I am happy to share that I haven't had that problem whatsoever with this product.

How to Use

Apply a small amount to the face and neck every morning after cleansing.

You can get your hands on the full-size version (50 mL) of this product for £14.95.

Overnight Recovery Gel Cream (25 mL)

Just as you would probably expect from a night cream, the HydraLuminous Overnight Recovery Gel Cream is thicker than the day cream - but only slightly. And where the daytime moisturiser is clear and almost water-like, this particular formula is completely opaque.

In fact, at first glance, it looks a lot like any other moisturiser. Nothing, in particular, stands out about it besides No7's pledge that it will nourish and hydrate thirsty skin, leaving it feeling refreshed and re-energised in time for bed. But like the Water Surge Gel, this product is formulated with No7's famous HydraDrench complex and is naturally powered by plant hydrators, which aim to deliver instant results.

Another great thing you will love about this product is that it is rich in antioxidants and Bisabolol. These are designed to support the skin and aid its repair from environmental stresses.

My Experience

Similarly to the day cream, I found the Overnight Recovery Gel Cream was easy to apply, and I didn't need much for a generous application. The gel-like consistency helps the product glide onto your skin, and the cooling formula instantly helps to relieve any redness. It also absorbed extremely quickly without leaving my face feeling tight.

Everything about it, from the scent to the composition, is very gentle. So if you're not a big fan of heavily fragranced products, you will definitely appreciate No7's HydraLuminous range!

How to Use

After cleansing the skin, apply the HydraLuminous Overnight Recovery Gel Cream to the face and neck - preferably in conjunction with No7s Water Concentrate.

Water Concentrate (15mL)

Powered by everyone's favourite skincare ingredient, hyaluronic acid, this ultra-hydrating serum aims to moisturise your skin while encouraging soft tissue growth, collagen, and elastin production, as well as reducing scarring and minimising the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. As an added bonus, No7's Water Concentrate contains Pollution Shield TechnologyTM, which essentially forms an invisible barrier between your skin and skin-damaging pollution particles.

Additionally promising ''visibly fresh and glowing skin'' in just one week; and an instant +100% skin hydration boost, No7's Water Concentrate claims are impressive, to say the least. But the real question is: Does it actually work?

My Experience

As you probably guessed from the other products in this range, one significant appeal that the Water Concentrate has is that its formula is incredibly lightweight.

In terms of consistency, it's thick enough that it won't immediately slide off your face but not so thick that it feels sticky or slimy. Application is a pleasure with this product, as it delivers that intensely hydrated feeling and leaves skin feeling refreshed without weighing it down or clogging any pores. And I was glad to discover that it absorbed very quickly into my skin and didn't leave any residue behind.

Thanks to the handy dropper applicator, it's also really easy to measure how much of this product you need. Personally, I find between 2 and 3 small drops is more than enough for a generous application.

After a few weeks of consistent use, I have noticed an improvement in my skin. It's definitely more glowy and feels smoother.

How to Use

For best results, apply the Water Concentrate directly to freshly cleansed skin every morning and evening before following up with your moisturiser of choice. Alternatively, you can add a few drops to your preferred moisturiser.

The full-size version of this product (30 mL) is available on the No7 website for £14.95.
